A little Romance

Read online: issue 71

A fashion editorial in collaboration with fashion designer Lavinia Jianqing Zhao. The garments are inspired by the traditional dress of Bai people, a minority ethnic group native to Yunnan Province, China. The word “Bai” stands for color white, a color that is always included in their clothing and a color that signifies dignity to the Bai people.

We live in a world where on a constant basis, different cultures come together and bring a new light to existing cultures. From Yunnan, a region rich with minority cultures, I shot this editorial to celebrate the aesthetics of diverse and complementing colors, and the exquisite craftsmanship behind the garments. I believe fashion is not just a form of self-expression, but also a bridge that links people from different cultures, languages and beliefs.
