As a Chinese who resided both in US and Europe, I have always been exposed to cultures different from my own. I always wondered – how is my native culture understood overseas and how can I create new aspects by combining differences together?

In this editorial, Xuan Liu, Dutch-born Chinese fashion designer, and I made a stop to Europe’s oldest Chinatown – Amsterdam Chinatown. Aside from breaking the social norms, we wanted to show the emotional and creative side of Chinese people: clothing is not only a daily essential but something we can express our inner world and have fun with.
